Le Mas du Gua is a quiet medieval hamlet surrounded by cherry orchards and vineyards in easy reach of Olargues (10 minutes by car), where there are all the shops and facilities for every day needs. The hamlet has no shops, restaurants or bars, which is ideal for people seeking an authentic “get away from it all” holiday. However there are visiting camionettes (an important feature of rural life in France) offering fresh fish, meat and groceries. The hamlet is a nature lover's paradise with unimpeded mountain views and a centre comprised of pretty stone clad houses complemented by several new villas on the outskirts. The villagers take great pride in the beauty of their surroundings and flowers can be seen all year round growing on the smallest of plots.

La Terrassa is situated close to the entrance to the older part of the village with access via steps and then a narrow sloping path, a 1-minute walk from the village car park.

Rear view of house from lane
La Terrassa nestles amongst several stone-built cottages in a narrow cul de sac at the heart of this charming hamlet with views of the Avant Montagnes to the South and the Caroux mountains to the North East. The property shares an entrance with a neighbouring house and is reached via a short ramp. Three steps lead directly up to the south facing terrace and the entrance to the villa. From here all is on one level.
This pleasant village house was built in the 1800s and extended in the 1980s. It has been recently renovated ending with the kitchen being completely transformed in June 2009. Despite all modern amenities La Terrassa manages to retain the charm of a typical French country villa with rooms opening out onto a south facing terrace with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. The house provides comfort and relaxation in peaceful and idyllic surroundings with 4 people easily accommodated in one double and one twin bedroom.
The lounge, kitchen and main bedroom are all grouped around the terrace where you can enjoy views over the mountain tops whilst enjoying alfresco dining. The roof over the terrace provides protection from the fierce midday sun and allows the splendid vista to be enjoyed throughout the year.
The terrace is provided with a guard rail so young children can play here happily, but we would suggest that they are always supervised. The south facing terrace provides a wonderful outdoor living area for eating and relaxing with sun loungers and table and chairs.

The main entrance is via the comfortably furnished dining room/lounge with views directly onto the mountains and an open log fire which creates a lovely cosy atmosphere in winter. This spacious room (22.3m²) decorated in a medley of peach tones has an elegant oval dining table with four chairs and is furnished with two comfortable two-seater sofas, TV (including Sky), video recorder and CD player.

Leading from the lounge a tiled hallway and corridor bisects the villa, with the kitchen and double bedroom overlooking the terrace and the rear twin bedroom overlooking the courtyard with views to the Caroux mountains. The hallway comprises a small office and a pretty, recently renovated bathroom (3.5 m²) which has been refurbished to luxurious standards with full tiling, a bidet, bath, shower, W.C. and heated towel rail and a separate cloakroom with lavatory and basin.

Continuing along the corridor on the right is the light and airy kitchen (11.7m²) which was completely remodelled in 2009. It has French doors opening directly onto the terrace.
The kitchen has plenty of storage cupboards and is well-equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave/counter top oven & grill, 4 ring gas hob, table and chairs. Breakfast can be taken here but the sheltered south facing terrace (16 m²) is ideal for al fresco dining, morning coffee or watching the last rays of sun disappear over the roof tops of this pretty mountain village whilst enjoying some of our lovely local wines.

The washing machine is located in the ground level cellar at the entrance to the property where you will also find two road bikes for guest use. Opposite the kitchen there is a twin bedroom (9.6m²) with pine furniture including a wardrobe and chest of drawers. This room is pleasantly decorated and overlooks the rear courtyard.

The double bedroom (11.7m²) which is situated along the corridor from the kitchen has lovely views over the charming terrace and the mountains. It is furnished with a wrought iron double bed, two pine wardrobes and matching bedside tables.

These bedrooms rooms provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for four people.
Additional storage is provided by a large walk-in storage room at the end of the corridor which houses an iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner and other cleaning equipment, parasols etc.
Access to the rear courtyard (15.5 m²) is opposite the double bedroom. This area provides a private outdoor space for sunbathing, reading and relaxing with views to the Caroux mountains and neighbouring gardens. A rotary clothes drier is also located here.

A special bonus is that La Terrassa also has a large garden a few minutes’ walk through the village and crossing a lovely medieval stone bridge. This little haven of peace is ideal for quiet picnics, siestas and the traditional evening aperitif. The fantastic views of the surrounding mountains will leave you spellbound. The garden is on two levels with trees and grassed areas, bordered by a pretty mountain stream close to the path leading towards the Chapel de Saint Martin des Oeufs. The walk to the chapel is very pleasant and provides stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Situated in a renowned walking area, with walks starting from several points in the hamlet La Terrassa offers a holiday with as many outdoor activities as you may wish to try. Otherwise enjoy the magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and mountains from the house and garden and relax completely in the comfort of this charming property. The hamlet and the situation of the villa are very quiet and peaceful – ideal for a restful holiday.

The house is all on one level but access is via a small lane 100 metres from the village car park and the steps up to the terrace make access difficult for wheelchairs or the elderly. Please note that there is no direct car access to the house. Sorry – no smokers or pets.
During your stay you will be looked after by Patricia Carpentier, who is also responsible for Le Petit Moulin. Patricia, who speaks good English and who lives in the village, is on hand to ensure that everything is clean and in working order for your arrival. She is also available to deal with any repairs or maintenance problems that may arise and is a fount of knowledge about the local area.
